Once you’ve received inspiration, how do you manifest your big idea?
In part one of this two part series, you had the opportunity to see which of your ideas were Bright Shiny Objects and which might be keepers. Once you have an idea that seems to keep burning in your heart and mind, how do you find the easiest and most creative path to make it happen?
In this post, you are going to manifest your big idea by going through a seven stage process. You will start with the moment of inspiration and finish with complete manifestation. During the process you will identify:
- How to go from start to finish while maintaining your energy for the idea.
- What stage you’re in at any time in the manifestation of the idea.
- When to talk about your idea and when not to talk about it.
- What resources you need to take to complete it.
Manifesting an idea has a number of moving parts. It’s an alchemical process that merges inspiration, heart, imagination, mental capacities, gifts, outside resources, and sheer guts.
As you move through the seven stages, keep in mind these four guiding principles:
- Ideas are your most valuable currency and they’re uniquely yours. No one could produce your idea exactly like you will so if you have competition, it’s a good sign that people want your idea.
- The ideas you receive will be deeply connected to your particular gifts. Your gifts are what will differentiate what you produce from what others would with the same idea.
- To advance through the stages, it’s essential to stay open to what arrives unexpectedly. Curiosity is your friend. Self judgment, scarcity, and lack of belief are illusions. Notice when things arrive easily and in a surprising way.
- The idea often doesn’t happen in a clearly sequential pattern, nor is the timeline necessarily defined. Be willing to let it flow back and forth. It’s a spiral, not a target.
Before you begin the process to manifest your big idea, name it. The minute you name it, it already exists as potential. You are the creator whose work it is to bring it into a creative form.
Now on to the stages.
Manifest Your Big Idea Stage 1: the Flash
The flash is your Aha! revelation. It’s the moment you receive the transmission or inspiration.
Did you get a burst of energy? Was it exciting? Does the idea fit like a glove?
Notice. How did it come to you? What were you doing at the time? Did you get inspiration from someone else? What are you feeling about being able to make the idea happen? Set the stage for your manifestation by giving as many details as you can about the circumstances of your ‘flash.’
This is not the time to question HOW you will manifest your big idea. Just get clear on the WHAT. Be curious about all your light bulb moments.
Stage 2: Insight Not Eyesight
If after some time has passed your energy for the idea is still strong, you’ll receive further insights and intuitions but they may be fuzzy around the edges.
Pieces of the puzzle start coming together but you won’t be able to see the whole picture or how the pieces all comes together. In fact pushing to make it happen before its time will mean struggle. No fun! You’re learning to use discernment in your inner sorting process.

Take your time. Stay curious. Let it percolate. Clarity takes time.
What details do you have so far? Step back and observe the idea from a distance. What do you see?
Stage 3: the Danger Zone
The danger zone is when doubt appears. Your mind might jump in with all the reasons you can’t manifest your big idea – money, time, lack of knowledge, etc. When doubt saps your energy it’s completely normal.
The real danger lies in trying to boost your energy by talking about the idea so you can get a charge of enthusiasm from other people’s reaction.
Don’t do it.
They may love it but they also may dash cold water over it and drown it. (Their reaction will be about them not you, but still, you don’t need the hassle.)
Imagine you have 100 energy units available for your idea. Don’t waste them talking about your idea now. Preserve your energy for creating the idea. Now might also be the time when you see for good reasons that the idea is a BSO and not worthy of your energy.
At this stage, your idea might have form in its beginning stages. Eg if your idea is a book, you may have a simple outline. If it’s a podcast like this one, you might have some themes picked out.
What are the details now? For now stay focused on the WHAT of your idea and don’t waste energy on the HOW.
Manifest Your Big Idea Stage 4: Heart Energy
This stage is what gets you past the danger zone. Here’s how you know. Your passion is not diminishing. It’s sustaining you, and you can talk about your idea (or not!) without other people’s reactions stopping you. You feel excitement and confidence and energy, and you want to leap out of bed every morning and work on the idea.
When your idea existed in a non concrete form, it was alive as an idea, yet it was not a thing. Now with your heart energy engaged step by step that shifts.
Now is the time to figure out what support you need to manifest your big idea. What resources? What do you need help with that you don’t know how to do yourself? How are you asking the universe for help?
When resources and people show up at the perfect time, say thank you, and expect MORE help to come.
Stage 5: Grab It By the Tail
As you bring the idea into form by taking regular steps, maintain your focus on the WHAT. Begin each day by asking what steps will take you closer to your vision. Listen to your inner guidance. Trust yourself and trust your ability. You can do this!
Continue to let go of how each step has to happen and let it unfold. It’s a dance so enjoy it. Maintain your air of expectation and watch for help in different guises – resources, people, auxiliary ideas, money, the right information at the right time.
Keep going and watch for all the lovely synchronicities.
What unexpected help and support are you receiving? Look for it in both tangible and intangible forms.
Manifest Your Big Idea Stage 6: “I Did It!”
You did it! Your book, your design, your project, your podcast, whatever it is, is done. You took your inspiration from a seed to a full blown bloom. Congratulations!
The idea that existed only as potential has become something you can be proud of. Acknowledge yourself and your helpers. Take a moment to express gratitude for the whole process because, while going through it, you grew.
That’s a major reason behind why it had staying power!
It wasn’t just the product, it was what you learned about yourself while you were creating it.
Final Stage 7: Party Time!
What do you do once it’s completed? Celebrate, of course!
You’ve been in an alchemical process. You’ve taken an idea and guided it into a form that has a place in the material world.
Take some time to celebrate your achievement, then share it with those who have been waiting for exactly what you’ve created!
What’s next? Why, your next idea of course.
